In the ongoing effort to create new venues for live local and regional music, we’re beginning a new collaborative venture called The Helping Hands Concert Series.
The goal of the concert series is to raise funds for smaller local organizations by bringing better known regional musicians to perform concerts in the area. Currently, this series is being developed by The Keene Music Festival and Orange Earth Productions, otherwise known as the organizing team. T, Orange Earth arranges the artists, and Keene Music Festival provides event coordination and staffing.
The preferred beneficiaries for these events are smaller organizations within the community that are under recognized and could benefit from exposure and additional funding. Generally, two such organizations will be chosen or each show. These organizations are required to be an active part of the event, with the following expectations:
- Organizations will provide written descriptions of the work that they do for the community.
- Organizations must make its members or volunteers available on the date of the event to help staff the show, and have an informational table at the show which describes their work. The table should be staffed to answer questions and provide information to audience members.
- Organizations must make a good faith effort to support and encourage pre-show ticket sales; as the size of the donation is dependent of the number of tickets sold.
- Unless other arrangements are made in advance, all profits from the event are split equally between the organizations being highlighted at the event. The organizing team has the final authority in determining any changes in the distribution of the proceeds.
- Organizations must make themselves available for any press or promotional efforts regarding the event.
- The organizing team will entertain proposals from any organization to be part of our efforts, but has the final say in who will be part of any of our events.
The organizing team will make every effort to minimize the costs related to the events, but all such costs will be recouped prior to the determination of the amount of the donations to the sponsored groups. This is why it is important that any sponsored organization be active in promoting ticket sales for the event that they are part of. Our goal is to bring regional musicians to the Keene area, and to promote the work (
and raise funds for) locally under recognized charities.
